Well, they are\u00a0the result of two separate eggs being fertilised by two separate sperm.\u00a0They\u2019re the most common type of twins,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pampers.co.uk\/pregnancy\/multiples\/article\/types-of-twins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accounting for around two thirds of all twin baby bumps<\/a>.\u00a0This\u00a0usually happens\u00a0because the ovaries occasionally release not one, but two eggs in the same menstrual cycle. If\u00a0both are fertilised, it can lead to\u00a0the joys of not loving one but two precious babes. It\u2019s\u00a0where each twin has a separate chorion,\u00a0amnion\u00a0and placenta.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA) twins<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0these types of twins are\u00a0cocooned\u00a0in a single chorion and share the same placenta, but each is snugly\u00a0tucked\u00a0in a separate amnion.\u00a0Due to the\u00a0shared placenta, the risks of this type of twin pregnancy are a little higher. However,\u00a0your maternity team will normally advise you to have your babies electronically monitored. This is so\u00a0that your babes get all the necessary care needed for the safest possible delivery.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Yes \u2013 you can have a natural birth with twins! Many mums-to-be think they\u00a0have to\u00a0have a caesarean when it comes to twins.
